Week 3 Studio - Multiple exposures

Week 3 Studio - Set shots working in large groups (space limited) and attempting to complete 8 set shots. Used Broncolor Pulso and Primo units. Camera ISO 125 on all shots. Single camera, Nikon D700, used for all shots with photos shared around the group and one scribe recording all settings.

1. Simple head and shoulders shot on short and long duration flashes to compare any CT shift.

Output 10,  F/8,  1/250 sec,  ISO 125
Output 6,  F/8,  1/250 sec,  ISO 125
Output 6,  F/8,  1/250 sec,  ISO 125
The above two photos are underexposed due to the shorter duration of the flash with all the other factors remaining constant. The shorter flash duration also results in a colour shift with the images having an orange contrast to them.

2. Head and shoulders, standing as still as possible with many multiple flashes as you can.
Flash at lowest level

Output 6, F/8, 5 sec, with 10 flashes
Flash moved as far away as possible
Output 6, F/9, BULB, 51 flashes
Calculate the f-number for a single flash = f/1.4 for 1 flash

Stop down lens as far as possible and calculate how many flashes required for correct exposure. Lens stops down to F22 = 256 flashes required.
[f/1.4 = 1; f/2 = 2; f/2.8 =  4; f/4 = 8; f/5.6 = 16; f/8 = 32; f/11 = 64; f/16 = 128; f/22 = 256]

2 Subect moving from distant position to close to camera with multiple flashes calculated the same as above (single image - multiple exposures) [flash fires about every .5 sec requiring quick movement of subject]
Output 6, f/16, BULB, 16 Flahes
Subject walking to straigh on to the camera too many overlapping images
Output6, f/4.5, BULB, 12 flashes
Better exposure with subject walking at diagonal - speed could have been more consistent and less choppy to get an even distribution between exposures.

Output 7, f/4.5, BULB, 12 flashes
Better spacing of subject movement – although there were 12 flashes only 7, possibly 8 of the 12 images viewable.  The reflected light from the distant images did not reach the sensor to be recorded.
4. Shot of 1 person talking to self (single image - two exposures, one on left, one on right.
Output 8, f/4, BULB, 2 flashes
Output 8, f/4, BULB, 2 flashes
5. Shot of person moving from left to right of frame with multiple exposures, as many as possible.
Output 6, f/4.5, BULB, 12 Flashes

Output 6, f/4.5, BULB, 12 Flashes
Output 6, f/8, BULB, 6 Flashes
6. Combining flash with other sources, laser light, torch, phone, lighter, etc.
Output 6, f/8, BULB, subject writing with a laser pen

Output 6, f/10, BLUB, Flash Brush created outline and laser pen to fill in with red.

7. Jumping, falling, etc.
Three lights used F/10, BULB
Master Output 7
Output 6 on both Slaves , Slave 1, 0.3 sec delay, Slave 2, 0.5 sec delay

Three lights used F/10, BULB
Master Output 7
Output 6 on both Slaves , Slave 1, 0.4 sec delay, Slave 2, 0.8 sec delay
8. Subject with as many flash heads as possible in the studio, all trigger with cell.

'B' Group Photo with multiple flash exposures
1/250 sec, f/29, ISO 125, 45mm
